Similar Text Analysis - Conclusion

After researching and deciding on the band that we would produce a video for we came up with video of similar genre and sound. The videos we looked at were

Nickelback - "Savin’ Me"

The Horrors - "She’s the new thing"

The Prodigy - "Invaders must die "

Joy Divison- "Love will tear us apart"

We learnt that the videos all conformed to certain conventions and stereotypes. Some of the videos such as joy divisions- love will tear us apart were performance videos, where others were a mix of different narratives and concepts mixed in with the performances. We had videos from different generations showing us what has been developed and modernised over the years between the videos. We learnt that the videos have become more creative and chaotic, keeping the audiences interested and inspired.

The horrors being very animated with aspects of realism constructing an interesting and creative effect on the audiences compared to the realism in love will tear us apart which was a performance video which was based on the band and the instruments set in one location where as in the prodigy there was a number of different locations and props adding the bands passion into the video and the music. Nickelback-savin’ me was a concept/narrative video which was combined with performance inserts adding diversity and appeals to a wider audiences. The prodigy- invaders must die (narrative/concept) and the horrors-she’s the new thing (concept/performance) had the controversial music video in the genres making them standout.
